Competition in problem-solving exercises

Students will do problem-solving exercises in STEM Games Arenas. STEM Games is an innovative team three-day concept of students competing in carrying out four thematic project assignments stemming from each of the fields. Each STEM Games Arena deals with one of the STEM fields, namely Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Specific issues will be dealt with in their respective Arenas.

Working on solving contemporary problems and applying acquired knowledge by using the latest technologies, competencies such as a problem analysis, application of engineering principles and working in teams will be developed. The general theme of STEM Games – NextGen Society - encourages students to embark on issues and challenges the 21st century is faced with. Students will deal with specific issues in specialized Arenas; however, all specific problem-solving exercises will be related to the general theme of the event.

 

Applications

Pre-application

In the pre-application process, a participant can choose up to two Arenas to compete in; however, a participant can compete only in one Arena. Arenas are to be chosen by the competition priority.

Selection carried out at faculties

Upon the pre-application process, faculties will carry out their internal selections and send a list of selected participants to STEM Games organizers.

Team formation

Upon participants' selection, teams are to be formed. Teams are interdisciplinary which means that teams can be formed of students studying at different higher education institutions at the same university.

Science Arena

Science Arena will be used by students studying in the fields of Natural and Biotechnical Sciences and the corresponding fields and branches.

Technology Arena

Technology Arena will be used by students studying in the field of Technical Sciences and the corresponding fields and branches of digital and computer technologies.

Yes! In order to compete in any of the Arenas, you need your own laptop. You will be provided with a power supply and a internet connection.

No. Teams will be formed in the month prior to the competition so you will have an opportunity to speak to colleagues who you want to be in a team with.

Yes. If your higher education institution selects you as competitors, you can apply as a team during the application process. During the team formation process, you will have an opportunity to communicate with other candidates and apply as a team.

No, it is not possible for an individual to participate in problem-solving exercises and sporting competitions because they will take place simultaneously.
