STEM Games 2019 once again brought together the young scientific talents of the region, and this time, from May 7 to 12, we returned to a familiar location, sunny Poreč. Students showcased their knowledge, skills, and team spirit in competitions that once again pushed boundaries. The days were filled with challenges, sports, and unforgettable gatherings, and the energy that spread through the camp was proof that the Games are not just a competition, but an experience to remember.
Students were faced with a challenge under the theme "Life as We Know It", which encouraged them to approach issues of Earth's sustainability and the future of life on our planet critically and responsibly. With the support of mentors, they devised solutions addressing modern-day challenges, from climate change to technological advancements, with a mission to preserve life for future generations. They recognized that technology must serve humanity and that their decisions shape our world. Through this challenge, their solutions became tangible steps toward sustainable development and the protection of the planet, proving they can be the driving force behind positive change for generations to come.
While complex tasks were being solved in the knowledge arenas, the sports fields told their own story, one of speed, strength, and unity. Every point, every jump, and every goal was the result of dedication and passion that STEM students bring to everything they do. Even when they take off their lab coats or close their laptops, the same passion remains, for victory, for the team, and for the game.
STEM Games may be over, but the impressions, friendships, and memories are just beginning to take on a life of their own. This year’s unforgettable atmosphere was powered by Vojko V and Vesna Pisarović, and we’re still dancing to their hits in our minds!
